Our credit union is committed to making available financial products and services that will enable you to meet your financial needs and reach your financial goals. Protecting personal information and using it in a manner consistent with your expectations is a high priority for everyone associated with our credit union.
As a member of our credit union, you also have a responsibility to safeguard your financial information.
To ensure that you can rely upon the quality of products and services we make available, our credit union stands behind the following privacy policy:
- Our credit union will collect only the personal information that is necessary to conduct our business. That means just what is necessary to provide competitive financial products and services -- no more.
- Our credit union will protect your personal information. Our credit union will maintain strong security controls to ensure that member information in our files and computers is protected. Where appropriate, we will use security coding techniques to protect against unauthorized access to personal records, ensure accuracy and integrity of communications and transactions, and protect member confidentiality.
- You will always have access to your information. As a member of our credit union, you as will always have the opportunity to review your information and make necessary changes to ensure that our records are complete and accurate.
- Our credit union will only share information when absolutely necessary. We will only share information to administer the products and services we provide, when required to do so by the government, or when we partner with other businesses to offer a broader array of products and services.
- Our credit union will partner only with businesses that follow strict confidentiality requirements. The businesses we select will offer products designed to enhance our members´ economic well-being. Under no circumstances will we authorize these firms to charge your account without your express consent, and we will not sell member information to telemarketing firms.
- Our credit union will offer you a choice in how your information is used. Any member of our credit union may elect to keep their information from being shared with our business partners. We will inform you on how to exercise your choice, and we will take all reasonable steps to make sure your requests are followed. At least once a year, we will remind all members of your right to choose.
- Online Privacy: MAFCU recognizes the importance of maintaining a presence on the World Wide Web for informational and e-commerce purposes in both retaining existing members and attracting new members. For he purpose of this statement, e-commerce is defined as the ability of members to access their personal account information and general credit union information, to initiate transactions o you credit union accounts, to apply for credit union products and services online, and to access credit union approval vendor sites to conduct related business. Our privacy policy is the same whether you are online or not.
- Visiting Us Online: We may gather information about which sites our visitors browse. This enables us to track how a visitor navigates as well as the sites in which they show interest. We gather information such as number of hits to our site, page visits, browsers, and length of user sessions. This is similar to a traffic report and does not identify the individuals in particular. We use this information to better serve you ad it helps keep our site relevant and useful.
- Our credit union use of Banners: A banner is an electronic advertisement that is attached to a web site. Some are interactive and some just scroll. By interactive we mean that if you click on he banner you can be directed to another site. We allow banners on our web site only from third parties that we approve. Sometimes these ads or banners may contain small graphics with tags.
- Our Online Security: We will maintain reasonable security controls to ensure that member information stored in our files and on the computers are protected. Where appropriate, we will use security-coding techniques, like encryption, to protect against unauthorized access ad protect member confidentiality. MAFCU uses 128-bit encryption from the World Wide Web.
- Protecting Children’s Online Privacy; MAFCU does not knowingly collect nor is our Web Site designed or directed to use any personal information from children under the age of 13 without obtaining verifiable consent from their parents. Should a child under the age of 13 send personal information to us, we will only use that information to respond directly to that child and will seek parental consent or provide parental notice. The email address of the minor child will be deleted if parental consent is not obtained.
- MAFCU does have links on our web site to other vendors and third parties. These links are added to give our members the opportunity to participate with the vendor or third party and to take advantage of their services or products. MAFCU cannot guarantee how these third parties use or collect personal information about you. We urge you to review the privacy policies of each of the linked web sites you visit. MAFCU IS ONLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT OF THIS WEB SITE AND SHALL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR THE CONTENT OF ANY SITES THAT ARE NOT OWNED BY MAFCU.
What you as a MAFCU Member Can Do to Help
- Protect your account numbers, plastic card numbers, PINs and passwords. Never keep your PIN with your corresponding plastic card.
- Use caution when disclosing your account number, social security number, etc. to other persons.
- Keep your information with us current. If your address or phone number change, please let us know promptly.
- After you complete your online session, log off before surfing other sites or turning off your PC.
- Review your account statements as soon as possible after receiving them.
